Lisa and David's candlelit vineyard wedding

Wedding ideas_real wedding

Always brimming with wedding ideas, our real weddings are the place to get inspired. This gorgeous affair held at Stones in the Yarra Valley exudes classic wedding style, with its soft colour palette and romantic finishing touches.

Timeless with a twist

Dressmaker Lisa chose to wear a vintage-inspired wedding dress with a unique edge for her big day. Opting to alter her intricate, ivory-coloured Chantilly lace dress to achieve three different looks, Lisa wore a long-sleeved lace attachment with a classic keyhole backline for the ceremony. During the reception, Lisa changed into an elegant short-sleeved, high-neck lace top before transforming the Catherine R Couture dress into a strapless to let loose at the after party. Lisa’s three bridesmaids wore flowing, slate-coloured silk chiffon gowns with rouched detailing and beaded cap sleeves, which complemented the surrounding greenery of the vineyards.

Recreating tradition

Blending elements of religious and civil ceremonies the couple exchanged traditional vows in a charming chapel met with sweeping views of the Yarra Valley. Friends of the couple recited readings as 130 guests watched on from the rustic handcrafted pews. Steering away from tradition, the couple decided to set out three long tables for guests to feast on a lavish banquet-style dinner. By aligning the tables in this manner guests were able to interact and share the meal, creating a relaxing, family atmosphere. The traditional white wedding cake was replaced with a breathtaking tiered chocolate brownie pyramid cake topped with a chocolate flower.

An air of romance

The décor was simple yet effective, the candlelit reception featured candelabras and tea light candles scattered along the tables with woven place mats tying into the rustic feel of the historic Yarra Valley venue. Cream coloured roses softened the dark wood of the dining tables while the bomboniere, mini zebra cacti wrapped in calico and twine by Lisa symbolised the endurance of lasting love. The couple took to the floor for their first dance to Hoobastank - the reason, a song the couple had loved since their teens.  The highlight of the day for Lisa was “feeling the love from everyone”.
