After meeting in Sydney, this couple were soon separated when Franziska returned home to her native Switzerland. But five months later, the pair met up to travel around Central America together and Christo popped the question in Mexico’s Puerto Escondido.
Franziska travelled to Melbourne from Sydney to meet with designer Anna Campbell for her wedding dress. The resulting gown was Grecian-inspired with layers of flowing fabric and a braided waistband, and Franziska went barefoot for their ceremony on the sand. Her bridesmaids wore halter-neck, floor-length gowns in a rich chocolate brown, while the groom wore a white linen suit and Havaiana thongs.
As the wedding guests arrived for the ceremony, each one was given either a sunflower to represent Switzerland, or a gumnut for Australia. During the ceremony, guests swapped their flowers with each other to represent the union of their two cultures.
Narrabeen Surf Club played host to the relaxed reception, where there was plenty of dancing and guests enjoyed a profiterole cake, made by a close friend of the couple. After the festivities, the couple embarked on a group honeymoon with 12 of their international visitors to the Northern Territory, incorporating a road trip back to Sydney.
