Lauchlan proposed one night as the pair returned home from a friend’s engagement party. “We’d been out all day and on the way home Lauchlan pulled into a look- out so we could watch the sunset. He pulled over, went to the back of the car and came back with a bottle of champagne and the ring. I was totally shocked,” she says.

Jessica enjoyed planning her big day and did most of the work via the Internet. She wore a beautiful gown from Mode for Brides in Newcastle, which featured beaded crystals, antique lace, a sweetheart neckline, and a scalloped lace hem. Her bridesmaids wore gowns by Melanie Ford, which were designed for their individual figures. The boys all wore charcoal pinstriped suits and ivory shirts.

Jessica and Lauchlan were married on Wategos Beach at Byron Bay. The ceremony was simple and fun, with the happy couple and their guests all barefoot on the sand.

The couple held their reception at the stunning Fig Tree Restaurant in Byron Bay. “We wanted the whole day to be a big party, relaxed and happy,” says the bride. “Our first dance was one of the funniest moments. We had rehearsed a mambo routine, but we spent the week leading up to the wedding on holiday with friends so we didn’t have enough practise and it was hilarious. I think people were just shocked to see Lauchlan dancing.”

The couple spent two weeks in Byron Bay with their family and friends, pre- and post-wedding and decided to postpone their honeymoon and save up for a trip to Europe.
