Planning their wedding was an exciting time for the couple, which chose Bali as the perfect location to say ‘I do’. “Having the wedding in Bali was really special for us, as we had visited Bali many times over the five years we were together and we loved it!” Amelia says.

While they found organising the food, music and hair and makeup, other aspects such as the venue and other suppliers proved to be more difficult.

However with the assistance of Global Weddings, everything began to fall into place. The bride and her two bridesmaids all wore gowns that were specially designed by Amelia’s close friend, who is also a dressmaker. “I came up with some ideas and then let my friend take over – I loved the result!” she says.

The ceremony, which was both religious and civil, was held in the gardens of Villa Sakti in Seminyak. The couple chose their own vows, which almost brought tears to their eyes. “We were both very emotional and happy when the moment arrived,” Amelia recalls.

The reception soon followed, where guests enjoyed cocktails and canapés. A live band provided a fun-filled atmosphere and the food was a traditional Balinese banquet. Rather than having a traditional cake, the couple chose a gelato cart to keep guests cool, along with wooden fans which had the couples named printed on them as bomboneire. This was certainly a useful gift in the 30-degree heat!

The newlyweds enjoyed a relaxing honeymoon at Lombok, a two-hour ferry ride from Bali, where they enjoyed the comforts of the Quinci Villas including their own private pool.
