After meeting at the Glastonbury Music Festival and getting engaged in Sydney, Angie and Matt decided they wanted a destination wedding.
The two UK ex-pats decided to wed on the glittering Balinese shores, but planning a destination wedding from Sydney, with all of their family and friends travelling from around the globe, required a lot of coordination. They hired two wedding planners to help them bring the day together, one to coordinate all the travel details and one to focus on the details of the day.
Angie looked resplendent in her vintage 1950s dress, which she found in a small boutique on Portobello Road, Notting Hill. Her four bridesmaids’ wore purple maxi dresses that the bride designed herself and the groomsmen looked fresh and dapper in pale grey suits.
The ceremony was a personal and relaxed affair, blending the couple’s personal touches with traditional
elements. The guests were seated in a circle to ensure everyone was involved in the intimate ceremony. Angie, a yoga teacher, relaxed the guests with a two-minute meditative ‘om’. After the exchange of rings and a kiss, the newlyweds ran through an arch formed by all of their guests to complete the ceremony.
Matt kicked off the reception with a speech, reminiscing about how he and Angie met. The nostalgic tone was reflected in the theme, with guests’ tables named after the different music tents at Glastonbury. A vegetarian dinner was served between emotional speeches, followed by the cutting of the cake and a romantic first dance to a song by Jose Gonzalez.
