Nima took Allana by surprise when he proposed after two years of dating. The couple fell for each other after meeting at work. Allana says she was delighted when Nima proposed.
The couple relied on family and friends for assistance and was impressed by how supportive everyone was.
After visiting Culture Shock on a friend’s recommendation, Allana bought the first dress she tried on. The white gown was finished with a stunning Japanese silk obe that was embroidered with cherry blossoms. Allana wore a pale pink Japanese inspired jacket to match. She loved the experience of choosing her gown.
Allana bucked tradition, including two bridesmaids and a ‘bridesman’ in her bridal party. To keep things simple she let them choose their own outfits with the colour black as the theme.
The couple celebrated their nuptials with two ceremonies – a Catholic mass was held at the Kincoppal Rose Bay Chapel and a Persian ceremony at The Tea Room at Gunners’ Barracks. Despite nerves, both ceremonies went off without a hitch. The second ceremony, a nod to the groom’s background, was a lavish affair, rich in Persian customs.
Despite initial nerves before the ceremony, Allana and Nima had a fabulous time. “The day ran incredibly smoothly, it flew past,” Allana says. “The most special part for us was to be able to share the day with the people we love.”
Allana’s advice is simple and close to her heart: “Don’t overcomplicate things and never forget the real reason you are getting married.”
