Allie and Henry couldn’t wait to tie the knot, giving themselves only four months to plan their beautiful autumn wedding.
Henry had a tough time trying to make his proposal to Allie a surprise. Allie, who admits to being the suspicious type, says, “I always find things out before they happen!”
Well aware of Allie’s nature, Henry decided that the only way to propose without her suspecting anything would be to do it surreptitiously on Christmas morning. After Allie had finished opening her presents, Henry announced that there was one more, and before Allie knew it Henry was on his knees in front of her.
The couple didn’t want to wait more than a year for their wedding to roll around, so decided to plan the wedding in just four months and have the ceremony that coming autumn.“During the planning phase I did feel a little overwhelmed at times,” Allie admits. “I did most of the organising myself and I didn’t quite realise what I’d signed up for.”
With the help of her four bridesmaids and supportive family and friends, Allie emerged from the planning stages and was ready to tie the knot at St Peters Church in North Sydney, followed by a reception at WatersEdge at The Rocks in Sydney.
For some brides, rain on a wedding day is the worst-case scenario. Allie chose to embrace the idea, providing each of the bridesmaids with red and white polka dot gumboots. When the rain she expected never came, Allie decided to stage a photo shoot with the gumboot-clad bridal party anyway, on Observatory Hill.
