The day Brian asked Alicia to marry him was just an ordinary, relaxed Friday. The couple had visited Alicia’s parents, who were holidaying in Rosebud. They walked on the beach, lunched in a nearby restaurant and then headed home. Later that night while watching television, Brian slipped quietly from the room. When he returned he knelt down in front of Alicia and popped the question.
They set the date for one year later and Alicia threw herself into planning her big day. But Alicia had already chosen her wedding dress before Brian had proposed! The gown was an ivory-coloured strapless gown by Maggie Sottero, which she found on sale at Abbey Bridal. Her bridesmaids wore chocolate-brown gowns by Alfred Angelo.
The couple’s wedding ceremony was held in the vineyards of Glen Erin at Lancefield. Alicia says it rained heavily on the morning of the wedding, but the minute the bride arrived the skies cleared. The couple said their vows in a picturesque gazebo overlooking the vines, and shared stories of their relationship with their guests.
The festivities continued at Glen Erin for their reception. The couple instantly fell in love with the vineyards, great service and delicious menu. The only hiccup came just before the couple cut the cake. Alicia stood up to get ready for the cake cutting and realised Brian was having some trouble with his cufflinks. When she went to sit back down to give him a hand, one of the waitresses accidentally moved her chair and the bride fell backwards! Once she assured her guests and new husband that she was ok, the party continued without another hitch.
