It was love at first sight. Andrew’s proposal to Leanne was in an extremely romantic location – on the deserted summit of the Japanese Alps.
The drawback of the stunning site was that Leanne thought Andrew’s proposal was a result of altitude sickness. Thankfully, Andrew managed to convince Leanne he was thinking clearly so she would say yes.
The wedding had to be planned in nine weeks to ensure one bridesmaid could be there. While most brides would baulk at such a time frame, Leanne says the limitation was a
blessing. It forced the couple to make quick decisions where the options were endless.
Leanne found a Collette Dinnigan gown in the first shop she visited, and although she spent hours trawling bridal stores just in case, the gown won out in the end.
The couple’s wedding venue, Red Hill Estate Winery, had a special place in Leanne and Andrew’s hearts. It was the site of their first date, a picnic. They decided to hold their ceremony beneath the same tree they picnicked under.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her mother and father as Love Is In the Air played. As Leanne walked towards Andrew, guests handed her roses from her mother’s garden to form her bouquet. When she arrived next to her husband-to-be, Andrew tied a ribbon around her bunch of flowers.
Friends of the couple, Vanessa Fernandez and Steve Wright of the jazz band Fernandez & Wright, filled the air with beautiful music. The intimate crowd allowed the day to be truly personalised. Every guest made a speech, told a joke or read a poem which made them all feel involved. One friend had guests in stitches when he did a rendition of Business Time by Flight of the Conchords.
