The romantic bride

The romantic bride is classic and understated. Think floaty fabrics, soft colours and bouquets of roses. Designer Angelina Baccini says the romantic bride believes in a love that lasts forever, has timeless taste and envisions the perfect wedding day.

Renowned for her ethereal, pretty gowns, the designer says when choosing the romantic bride look, fabric is the key.

She suggests opting for textiles like silk chiffon, silk georgette, cotton tulle and fine laces. “These offer a soft, fly-away feel that really embodies romance, and these fabrics flatter any body shape.”

To give brides-to-be the structure and support they need, Angelina cleverly hides internal boning beneath overlaying fabrics, allowing her gowns to imbue a floaty, ethereal feel.

While small details are always important, they are a vital consideration for the romantic bride. Embellishments must be delicate – too much bling or too bright a colour will overwhelm the softness of the gown and confuse the look. “If a bride wants to adorn her gown with a textured effect, tiny beads are best,” she says.

And at Baccini & Hill, Angelina has her own, special way of adding a touch of romance to every bridal gown she creates.

“We sew a tiny blue ribbon to the inside of each dress for that ‘something blue’,” she says. This is a great way to ensure that you are in keeping with this tradition, but it's subtle enough for only you and your partner to know about.

If you're hoping to be a romantic bride, keep these important things in mind and you'll be sure to feel incredibly special and exceptionally beautiful on your big day. Remember to keep things simple and classic, yet understated and elegant, and the most essential ingredient to any romantic bride is the look of love and a gorgeous smile to match.
